Has anyone had open heart surgery and experienced this?
Hi, I had open heart surgery a month ago, (I am only 36 years old) I have been having a problem when i move a certain way or bend over it feels like my rib cage shifts. It's almost like one side pushes forward and the other side goes in making it feel like it is crushing my lung. Has anyone else experienced this and if so how long did it take until it stopped. Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

- Sounds like your ribs and sternum did not heal properly. Have you notified your doctor ?
- hello melody r I had open heart surgery in 1986. The surgeons went in from under my left arm as it was to repair an aneurysm on my ascending aorta. I used to breathe (still do thankfully!) and I could feel/hear clicking as the ribcage bones shifted around. It feels very weird and uncomfortable. It took a good six months to stop. However, that my be due to how my injury was inflicted too. A car pulled out on me from a side road when I was riding a motorcycle at speed. I demolished the car with my chest basically and broke ribs, my shoulder and damaged my arorta. Check with your doc' but I would guess a couple of months until the ribs shut up. Well done for making it long enough to ask about, nice feeling being alive isn't it?!
